In 1986 Randy and Carolyn Adams founded Faith Tabernacle UPC in Port Gibson, Mississippi. They had pastored this church for nine years when they received their October 1995 appointment to the nations of Togo and Benin. In 2000 the Foreign Missions Board added the nation of Gabon to Brother Adams' responsibilities, and in 2002 he was asked to serve as Area Coordinator for French West Africa.

In referring to his call, Brother Adams stated, “Sometime in 1990 or early 1991, God spoke to me about a ‘dark-skinned, French-speaking people.” As a result, the Adams began studying French with a private tutor, which they continued for over two years. This made it possible for them to be able to communicate in French as soon as they arrived on the field on December 8, 1996.

Brother and Sister Adams furloughed in 2001 and returned to Togo in April 2002. Bro. Adams now serves as Area Coordinator for French speaking West Africa, and he oversees new works in the nations of Gabon, the Central Africa Republic, and Senegal. He also serves as the liaison for French countries that are without missionary personnel at this time, i.e., Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Niger.

Brother and Sister Adams also work closely with French translation throughout the Africa Region. He represents West Africa on the Africa Aflame Resource Committee as well as the Implementation Committee of the Africa Association of Theological Studies.
