Theodore and Patricia Grosbach
Since 1984, the Grosbachs have worked in Africa, starting their missionary journey in Malawi where they served as AIM furlough replacements for nearly two years. It was during their time in Malawi that Ted made a trip into the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire). While visiting some church contacts there, the Lord gave him a great burden for this vast and unreached nation of over 50 million.
In 1985, Ted and Pat were appointed as missionaries to Zambia and Zaire arriving in Zambia in 1987. There were many obstacles registering the church in Zaire, therefore, they resided in Zambia. While living and actively ministering in Zambia, Brother Grosbach made frequent visits to Zaire. Zambia proved to be a wonderful experience. Ted served as missionary superintendent, taught in the Bible College, established Home Groups throughout the country, and trained national leaders at all levels. It was while in Zambia that we began their aviation ministry, Wings Over Africa. Due to great difficulty with road-conditions and car bandits, Ted used the airplane to effectively reach remote areas for the purpose of leadership development. After twelve years in Zambia after being their to experience the Zambian church grow from around 1,000 nationwide to over 9,000 constituents. In one crusade alone there were 2,252 who received the Holy Ghost.
The Grosbachs next took up residence in Botswana for two years. While in Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s doors finally opened for the United Pentecostal Church International. A missionary calling that endured 17 years finally reached its destination allowing the Grosbachs to obtain visas and register the church in the DRC.
Though the country is presently war-torn and in financial ruins, the church is thriving. The church has grown to over 6,000 with just at 100 churches and preaching points. They are currently utilizing the "Wings Over Africa" Cessna 185 to access this vast nation that has very little road infrastructure.
Just completing a furlough in North America, the Grosbachs have returned to Africa. They are presently overseeing the works both in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as the church in Botswana. Bro. Grosbach serves as Area Coordinator for the Southern part of Africa which takes him into 10 countries with different leadership training seminars and evangelism. He is also actively pursuing church registration in Congo-Brazzaville and desiring to soon be able to do the same in Angola.
The Grosbachs have one son, Blue Dean, who lives in Port Richey, Florida with his wife. Their granddaughter, Kara, is now twelve years old.
