The Poitrases, both professional educators, met in Nigeria as AIMers in 1983, married, and later received their missionary appointment in 1985.  Following more than a decade in Nigeria, they accepted the challenge to go to Ghana, to revive the work, and to restore the inactive training program.

Arriving in Ghana in February 1995, Brother Poitras became the field superintendent.  He opened ACTS-Ghana and built a beautiful Bible school facility.  He wrote Acts: God's Training Manual for Today's Church, which is the curriculum for Portable Bible Schools, and several other books.

In January 1996 he became the area coordinator of the English-speaking the nations of West Africa. Brother Poitras’ appointment was recently expanded to include Regional Teaching Ministries. He coordinates Vision for Africa Ministries, the Africa Association of Theological Studies, and Africa Aflame Publications and Resources.

Sister Poitras remains active through serving as a Bible school instructor, and their daughters’ teacher. She coordinates Reaching Africa’s Children and also serves as their West Africa representative.
