Albert Stewart was a non-commissioned U.S. Army Officer, attached to the American Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia, when he and his wife were converted. They returned to Liberia as UPCI missionaries in 1983. Brother Stewart oversees the entire work, including village outreach and evangelism. He also heads the Apostolic Relief Services, the relief arm of the UPC of Liberia.

Brother Stewart has manifested his love for the saints of Liberia over and over during the continuing civil war. Even as U.S. Marines evacuated his family with only the clothes on their backs and one carry-on, Brother Stewart chose to stay to look after the church. Later he was able to turn over the reins to national
leaders and join his family in Florida. He now makes periodic trips to Liberia as the situation allows.  The Stewarts furloughed in January 2005.
